Woman suspected of driving drunk hands officer liquor receipt instead of license

ARLINGTON, Mass. — A woman suspected of driving drunk handed a police officer a liquor receipt when he asked for her driver’s license, according to a report from CBS Boston.

Police Chief Frederick Ryan said he spotted Brenda Drinkwater, 60, driving the wrong way and forcing cars off the road on Summer Street in Arlington around 5:30 p.m. Monday.

Chief Ryan pulled her over. When he approached the car, he asked Drinkwater for her license and registration. As she reached into her purse, she handed him a credit card and a receipt from a liquor store for a bottle of vodka.

Ryan then saw an open bottle of vodka on the passenger seat.

The woman, who failed several sobriety tests, was arrested for operating under the influence for the seventh time.
